Valentine's Day Home Spa Routine

Valentine's Day Home Spa Routine

Take some time to unwind, relax and treat yourself to some home pampering, with ChitoCare beauty’s step-by-step home spa session.

A wise person once said, if you can’t love yourself, how are you going to love somebody else? With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, what better way to celebrate than by showing yourself some self-love? ChitoCare beauty has prepared the perfect DIY spa session for you to try in the comfort of your own home. Just follow these easy steps to feel rejuvenated and renewed.

What You Will Need

Setting the mood is crucial – you want to engage all your senses and immerse yourself in a spa-like ambiance. Light some scented candles, put on your favourite relaxing music and leave your phone in the other room. Soaking in a bathtub can lead to dehydration, so we like to have some refreshing cucumber water at hand. Fill your bathtub with hot (but not scolding) water and sprinkle in some of your favourite bath salts.

Researchers have found that taking a warm bath or shower helps to lower your blood pressure while increasing your heart rate. This means your heart pumps blood to all your organs more effectively. If you don’t have a bathtub don't worry, taking a nice hot shower will have the same effect.

Be prepared with a nice fluffy towel and the following ChitoCare beauty products: our scrumptious Body Scrub with walnut shell and bamboo stem powder, our powerful Body Lotion containing aloe vera and coconut oil, our revolutionary Serum Mask with prickly pear stem extract, our Anti-Aging Repair Serum rich in antioxidants, our rehydrating Face Cream containing macadamia and sunflower seed oil, and our Hand Cream featuring Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract.

Step 1: Replenish

If you are having a bath, apply the ChitoCare beauty Serum Mask to your face and sit back and relax for a few minutes while it works its magic. Afterwards, allow the Serum Mask to dissolve in the bath water. This will deliver an intense shot of moisture to your whole body. If you are sans bathtub, simply apply the mask to your face before showering, making sure to enjoy its cooling sensation. Containing marine chitosan, it will promote the natural repair process of your skin, while hyaluronic acid will help normal collagen production.

Step 2: Exfoliate

After you have sufficiently relaxed, gently exfoliate using the ChitoCare beauty Body Scrub to wash away dirt, grime, dull skin cells and impurities. Enriched with antioxidants, it will leave your skin feeling firm and soft.

Step 3: Moisturize

Once you have scrubbed away impurities and rinsed them off, it’s time for a hydration boost. As a general rule, remember not to rub your skin too harshly when drying off, as this can cause micro-abrasions of the skin. Creams and lotions work best on damp skin, so softly pat yourself down and generously apply the ChitoCare beauty Body Lotion to your whole body. This will protect your skin by forming a film that locks in moisture, helping reduce redness and itching, and leaving your skin smooth and hydrated.

Step 4: Hydrate

Now you have lathered up, it’s time to turn your attention to your face. As with body lotions and creams, serums and face creams work best on damp skin.

Apply some of the ChitoCare beauty Anti-Aging Repair Serum to your chest, neck and face. Gently rub it in by using the lymphatic massage method. This will help reduce skin puffiness and the appearance of fine lines, while delivering antioxidants necessary for firmer and smoother skin.

Using soft circular motions, gently massage the areas around your collarbone and neck for a minute or so. Move further up our neck, making sure to massage the sides and just underneath your jaw. Next, massage your forehead, making outwards motions with your fingertips towards your temples, and down to your jawline. Then, massage from your chin towards your ears and from your upper lip to your cheekbones, making outward movements. Finally, massage the area of your cheeks sweeping outwards, making sure to avoid your sensitive eye area.

Step 5: Protect

Now that your skin is perfectly plump and radiant, it’s time for the moisturizing touch, with ChitoCare beauty Face Cream.

To ensure the cream is evenly distributed, dab small amounts to strategic areas of your face with your ring finger. First, dab some cream along your T-zone – that’s the area that runs from your forehead down to your nose and chin. Then dab some cream on your cheeks, cheekbones and neck. Smooth out the cream so that every part of your face is covered and massage it in using small, upward, circular motions. Don’t forget your decolletage area and never drag or stretch your skin downwards when applying face cream. This will only accentuate wrinkles and fine lines further – going against the direction of gravity is the key.

Step 6: Nourish

Last but not least, wrap up in a cozy bathrobe or your pyjamas and show some love to those areas we all often forget: your hands and feet. Our ChitoCare beauty Hand Cream has powerful skin repair properties, so it works fabulously on dry areas such as elbows, knees and feet. Lather up your feet while giving them a relaxing rub to release tension. Chances are you have already washed your hands a few times during this spa session, so you’ll want to finish everything off with a generous dose of the Hand Cream, to keep your hands soft and smooth.

The most important thing is to relax, pampering yourself and have fun with it – you deserve it! Happy Valentine’s Day!
